Chick fil a ice cream12/12/2023 Because dogs enjoy a lot of the same foods and snacks we enjoy, such as cheese, they tend to go to different dogs over them. It tastes like cream and sweet food, and it is high in fat, just like many other high-value foods humans and dogs enjoy. Please keep in mind that your dog cannot express his or her concerns to you, so while they may appear to be healthy on the outside, they may also be suffering from major digestive problems.Ĭonsider the reasons why your dog enjoys ice cream. Your dog may experience gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, or vomiting after eating ice cream. It is not necessary for dogs to digest milk. Homemade ice cream treats with dog-friendly ingredients are another option for your dog, and gelato made specifically for dogs can also be considered. Make certain that you use vanilla when you’re in doubt, as vanilla is even better and less fat than other flavors. Dogs will be delighted with a frozen nondairy dessert from Ben & Jerry’s.ĭogs should not be given ice cream containing chocolate, xylitol, macadamia nuts, or coffee beans. Bananas contain a lot of fiber and potassium, in addition to vitamins C, B6, and B6. To help dogs digest fat-free plain yogurt, keep it frozen. If dogs want to eat plain vanilla ice cream as a treat, a small amount can be a good source of nutrition. High-quality dog foods are designed to promote strong, healthy bones in your dog by providing calcium and other nutrients. Some flavors are not suitable for dogs, even if they are marketed to them. If you’re looking for a delicious and safe treat for your dog, Chick-fil-A ice cream is a great option!ĭogs may experience an allergic reaction to milk and dairy products such as ice cream due to a variety of food allergies. Secondly, Chick-fil-A ice cream contains sugar, so it’s best to give your dog a small portion size to avoid any tummy troubles. First of all, Chick-fil-A ice cream is made with real milk and cream, so it’s not suitable for dogs who are lactose intolerant. But did you know that Chick-fil-A also offers a range of other menu items, including ice cream? That’s right – Chick-fil-A ice cream is a real thing, and it’s actually pretty good! So, can dogs eat Chick-fil-A ice cream? The answer is yes, but there are a few things you should keep in mind. If you’re like most people, you probably think of Chick-fil-A as a restaurant chain that specializes in chicken sandwiches. Sociopath checklist12/12/2023 Shaken, he decided to look up the code on the scan to determine whose brain he was looking at.įallon couldn’t quite believe it. The brain in the image appeared to belong to a psychopath-but the scans at the bottom of the pile belonged to his family members. “I got to the bottom of the stack, and saw this scan that was obviously pathological,” he told Smithsonian. Sitting on his desk at the same time were a stack of scans from Fallon’s family members taken as part of a study on Alzheimer’s disease. One day in 2005, Fallon was looking at the brain scans of people with APD, as well as those of people with depression and schizophrenia. His research has helped identify areas of difference in the brains of people with APD. Many cases of APD go undiagnosed because the people in question are living successful, ordinary lives.įor proof, just look at neurologist James Fallon: Fallon has spent decades researching the anatomical side of so-called psychopathy. This does not mean that all people with APD are violent, nor does it mean that they’re bad people. A genetic variant called MAOA-L has been linked with an increased risk of violent and aggressive behavior, and brain scans of people with APD have shown low activity in areas related to empathy, morality, and self-control. Traumatic childhoods and difficult home environments can definitely contribute, but there’s also a clear physiological component. Some recognize two forms of psychopathy, primary and secondary, each with its own set of causes and manifestations. Scientists are still not sure what causes APD. The terms are typically mutually exclusive most people with APD will never experience psychosis, and vice versa. Unlike psychopathy, psychosis describes the condition of losing touch with reality, undergoing rapid personality changes, and having trouble functioning. The two words sound similar and are both used as slurs, but that's where the similarity ends. It's worth mentioning that there is a big difference between psychopathy and psychosis. (You can see the list to check yourself, or your boss, here.) The person has to be at least 18 years old-a contentious criterion, since many psychologists feel that children can begin displaying signs of APD at a very young age.Īnother frequently used "psychopath test" is the Hare Psychopathy Checklist-Revised, or the PCL-R, a 20-question checklist used by researchers, clinicians, and the courts to measure antisocial tendencies. The person's personality and behavior are not explained by a medical condition or substance abuse andĦ. These personality traits and impairments are not normal for the person's developmental stage (many toddlers could easily be described as psychopaths) or cultural environment ĥ. These personality traits and impairments must be stable and consistent over time Ĥ. Pathological personality traits, including manipulativeness, deceitfulness, callousness, hostility, irresponsibility, impulsivity, and risk-taking ģ. Impairments in personality including a lack of remorse, egocentrism, "goal-setting based on personal gratification," and the inability to form mutually intimate relationships Ģ. In order to be diagnosed with either, a person must exhibit “disregard for and violation of others’ rights.” The DSM-5 lists 6 major criteria :ġ. The World Health Organization calls this dissocial personality disorder, or DPD.ĪPD and DPD are essentially the same thing. In the U.S., such traits fall under the diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder, or APD, according to the American Psychiatric Association, which issues the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, now in its 5th edition (DSM-5). They're common terms for people who exhibit "pathological" personality traits. Others say “sociopath” is just the latest buzzword for “psychopath.” There’s no real consensus.īut there may be a reason for that: neither “psychopath” nor “sociopath” is a clinical diagnosis. Some folks believe that psychopaths are born, while sociopaths are made, the products of difficult childhoods and traumatic home environments. Look to pop psychology for your answer and you’ll get a lot of conflicting opinions. They’re calculating, charismatic, cold-hearted. You see them on the movie screen you read about them in the news. Western black rhinoceros genus12/12/2023 During the morning or evening, they would browse for food. Like all Black Rhinos, they were browsers, and their common diet included leafy plants and shoots around their habitat. The western black rhinoceros is one of three subspecies of the black rhinoceros to become extinct in historical times, the other two being the southern black rhinoceros and the north-eastern black rhinoceros. The population was first discovered in Southwest Chad, Central African Republic (CAR), North Cameroon, and Northeast Nigeria. Other distinct features of the western black rhino included the square based horn, first mandibular premolar retained in the adults, simple formed crochet of the maxillary premolar, and premolars commonly possessed crista. This refers to the subspecies’ long distal limb segment, one of many special characteristics of the subspecies. The word “ longipes” is of Latin origin, combining longus (“far, long”) and pēs (“foot”). This subspecies was named Diceros bicornis longipes by Ludwig Zukowsky in 1949. The western black rhinoceros resided primarily in Cameroon, but surveys since 2006 have failed to locate any individuals. It was once widespread in the savanna of sub-Saharan Africa, but its numbers declined due to poaching. The western black rhinoceros was believed to have been genetically different from other rhino subspecies. It was declared extinct by the IUCN in 2011. The western black rhinoceros ( Diceros bicornis longipes) or West African black rhinoceros is an extinct subspecies of the black rhinoceros. Carotid artery doppler12/11/2023 This shows that extracranial carotid arteries are usually normal in patients with NTG.There was no significant relation between the degree of stenosis of the carotid artery and the stage of VFL at time of diagnosis. 62 of 69 patients (89,9%) had no stenosis of the carotid artery, 8,6% had a stenosis up to 60% and 1 patient (1,5%) had a stenosis of 60-90%. Stage III of VFL was most frequent at the first examination. For statistics Jonckheere-Terpstra test was used.Ģ0.3% of 69 eyes had a preperimetric NTG, stage I had 11,6%, stage II 10,1%, stage III 37,7%, stage IV 18,8%, stage V 1,5%. For evaluation three patient groups were formed: patients with no hemodynamic relevant stenosis, with stenosis degree up to 60% and with stenosis between 60-90%. All eyes had consistently an intraocular pressure equal or less than 21 mmHg on diurnal testing without medication and during the entire observation time with topical medication. If both eyes had the same stage of VFL, a randomized selection of the eye included was performed. For staging the eye with the more severe VFL was used. The vast majority of the menu will be familiar to fans of Colibri's first incarnation, but there will be some new additions as well. "Everything will feel like grandma just made it for you."Īs Rallo told Eater this week, Colibri's menu was always influenced by Mexico during the Porfiriato, the period period of the late 19th and early 20th Century when General Porfirio Díaz ruled the country, and when, Rallo says, there was a "tremendous amount of French influence in Mexican culture." And the historic bones of the Arguello space (parts of the adobe building date to 1776) will only add to the experience. "We seek to deliver nothing but the most authentic flavors with a traditional component that is completely separate from nouveau cuisine," Rallo says in a release. Rallo says that more than half the original staff at Colibri in Union Square, including Executive Chef Edgar Castro, are returning to work at the new location, which has indoor and outdoor seating, and special historic ambiance in a building that is one of the oldest structures in San Francisco. Rallo has also opened La Urbana on Divisadero, and Zazil Cocina Mexicana and El Jardin at San Jose's Santana Row, all of which were distinct from Colibri. SFist earlier reported on Rallo's restaurant group's deal at the Presidio, but it wasn't clear then that Colibri was definitely the concept they would be bringing here. Their search for a new location led to a deal with the Presidio Trust to take over the space formerly occupied by Traci Des Jardins' Arguello, in the historic Officers' Club, and a new space at the Presidio Tunnel Tops, set to open this summer. But after closing and starting a remodel in 2020, they found out that the city was buying the Hotel Diva - the whole building in which the restaurant lived - to transform it into permanent supportive housing for the homeless. The owners of Colibri, Eduardo Rallo and his partners, didn't intend to permanently give up their prime location downtown, across the street from theaters and steps from Union Square. Colibri Mexican Bistro, the high-end Mexican restaurant on Geary near Union Square that opened around 2004 and closed in 2020, has found new life in the former Arguello space at the Presidio Officers' Club. Automatic dct transmission12/11/2023 You can view the function of the impeller and turbine, in addition to these other components, in this video: There are additional components in modern torque converters. The faster the engine rotates, the more oil pressure is applied to the turbine, increasing the speed of the turbine until it eventually nearly matches the speed of the impeller. As the oil pressure around the circumference increases, the oil is pushed onto the vanes of the turbine, beginning to apply rotational force. When the torque converter spins, oil inside of it is pushed to the outer circumference by the impeller. The second is attached to the input shaft of the transmission. This set of vanes is called the impeller. It has two sets of vanes, one attached to the flexplate, which is bolted to the back of the engine crankcase. It engages and disengages the transmission from the engine, providing the function of a clutch in a manual transmission. The torque converter is a fluid coupling. In addition to these systems, there is a gear-driven oil pump to provide hydraulic pressure for actuation. It’s much more challenging to explain how an automatic transmission works, but here are the basics: An automatic transmission relies on three primary systems to function: planetary gear sets, a torque converter and sets and clutches with a control system. This transmission is capable of lightning-quick shifts in as little as 80 milliseconds. The GT500 features the 7-speed TREMEC TR-9070 DCT. It features the TREMEC TR-9080 DCT, our first 8-speed transmission, which includes a nested concentric clutch and integrated differential (either mechanical limited-slip or electronically actuated limited-slip).Īn example of a longitudinal DCT can be found in the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is an example of a transaxle DCT. The TREMEC TR-9080 DCT used in the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is an example of a traverse DCT, which integrates the differential with the transmission. There are both longitudinal and traverse versions of a DCT. While most transaxles are found in front-wheel-drive vehicles, they are also used in rear- and mid-engine high performance vehicles. A transaxle combines the function of the transmission and the drive axle, and it has an internal differential to send power to left and right axleshafts. Essentially the transmission has already shifted, and changing gears is actually just a matter of disengaging one clutch and engaging the other one.Ī DCT can be either a traditional longitudinal transmission, used in typical rear-wheel-drive cars, or a transaxle which is also referred to as a transverse transmission. This is also what makes a DCT capable of extremely quick shifts. This allows the transmission to pre-select the next gear and be ready for the next upshift. Typically the odd gears (First, Third, etc.) are on one input shaft, while the even gears are on the other shaft. This is one of the key unique technologies in a DCT, and it is the brain of the transmission. The difference is that instead of being actuated by a driver via the transmission shifter, the shift forks are moved by an actuation system and controlled by the transmission or powertrain electronic control module (ECM). Like a manual transmission, a DCT has synchronizers and shift forks. The clutches ride on the separate shafts and are used to engage and disengage the shafts individually. It also has two input shafts-one inside the other. As the “dual clutch” name implies, a Dual Clutch Transmission has two clutch assemblies. Californication season 112/11/2023 The problem I discovered with the show fairly quickly, however, was that it seemed to be a simple sex comedy week in and week out. One could argue that strictly in terms of acting, Moody might outshine Mulder. Also, Duchovny is perfect for the Hank Moody role, which is infinitely closer to his personality than Fox Mulder ever was. He's also in constant contact (hilarious and otherwise) with agent Charlie (Evan Handler), who constantly encourages him (in a variety of ways) to get back into the writing game again.Īfter watching the pilot episode, I thought that Californication might offer me something, as it made me belly laugh a number of times and generally kept me entertained by it's willingness to go further on its sexual jokes than any show I've ever seen. He still harbors feelings for ex-wife Karen (Natascha McElhone), ends up in quite a tryst with step-daughter Mia (Madeline Zima), yet still manages to be a supportive father to Becca (Madeleine Martin). While in no way was I disappointed in his performance, I quickly found (after about six episodes) that this show just wasn't for me.įor a basic plot summary, "Californication" is the story of Hank Moody (Duchovny), a boozy, sex-a-holic writer who, come to think of it, hasn't actually written anything in quite some time. Having only known DD from that Fox Mulder role, and being generally a huge fan of The X-Files, I was curious to check out another body of work of his to see what he could bring to the comedic table. I started watching "Californication" because of how tremendously disappointing (at least to me) David Duchovny was in the recent X-files comeback miniseries. But it's more likely that it's a generalization of the kind of people that exist in Hollywood all too often. Gives you Harvey Weinstein vibes honestly. Maybe not about himself, but someone else. As if he wrote what he knew about that exists in that life. That to me is an ode to the show creator. About something Hank did that could destroy his life. I wouldn't know who, but, even in the show, there's a line between Hank and his agent Charlie Runkle where Charlie says "do I even have to ask? Because I know you write what you know". Also, it's worth mentioning, I feel like Hank Moody is based on a real person. That's just my opinion because I wish they didn't end the show. The end is TERRIBLE but don't let that stop you from watching. A lot of sex, drugs, rock and roll, self loathing, hilarity, shenanigans, and mishaps shape this series into what I consider one of the best tv shows of all time. It really sets up the shows following seasons and what to expect. His intentions, but also, his demons and what keeps him where he is rather than giving him an out. The first season really gives you a good picture of what Hank is about. Get back to New York where he began his career and get out of the Hell that is Los Angeles. Battling his emotions and his addictions, trying to save his relationship with his ex wife and his daughter. On the other hand, he's a loving father, a lover in general. He's self loathing, self deprecating, a drunk, at times misogynistic, and a party animal that never seemed to grow up, or grow past the failures, or successes for that matter, or the issues he faced in his life. Trying to get back his writing career and to get his family back together that broke up along his journey as a writer in Los Angeles. I wish it was still on! The plot revolves around well known novelist Hank Moody, suffering from writers block. I began watching it the same year the show ended. Waited too long to start watching this show.
